Westfield Stratford City Case Study
With over 250 shops, bars, restaurants and hotels as well as a cinema, a bowling alley and a casino – Westfield is an exciting and important security project for MAG.
Background
MAG is responsible for providing the crowd management services at Westfield Stratford City.
Westfield Stratford City is Europe’s largest urban shopping and leisure destination, attracting over 47 million visitors a year. It encompasses over 250 shops, bars, restaurants and hotels as well as a cinema, a bowling alley and a casino.
Strategy
A primary aim of the service that McKenzie Arnold Group provides is the safe movement of visitors around the shopping centre on days where footfall is likely to be high. This includes days where major events are held at the London stadium and Boxing Day sales (where footfall reaches more than 280,000 shoppers in just one day).
Our existing senior management team has been responsible for planning and delivering nearly all crowd management activity at the shopping centre since 2013. The MAG Management Team were also responsible for managing Stratford transport hubs and Meridian Square as part of the Last Mile operation during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
MAG also provides security staff to Westfield to support their day-to-day standard security operation, including managed customer search and screening areas, using Garrett search arches, handheld metal detector wands and conducting random bag searches as part of their Crime Reduction Strategy.
